Japanese parks are the best, and Harumirinkai Park is no exception! Learn all you need to know about the new Harumirinkai Park in Otake, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan!
Prepare yourselves. Harumirinkai Park is some of the most fun you can have in Yamaguchi Prefecture! The park just opened on 4/27/18, and is brilliant!
There are a dozen or so different types of slides, climbing walls and nets, a zip line, tightrope, and tons of nooks and crannies to explore! There are shaded areas for relaxing, and various age-appropriate features that keep smaller kids within arms reach. Lots of older Japanese parks are unique and entertaining, but they seem rusted and worn down. Not so here! Everything is shiny and new. I think that there are plans for more future development, but there are already lots of thoughtful touches, including some exercise equipment lining the edge of the park. If your kids are a bit older and don’t need as much supervision, you can go and work out while your kids play! This park is exciting for every child and every child at heart!
This park has so many great things to offer, it’s a great chance to put your phone away and play with the kids! There were many parents climbing the different obstacles and going down the slides with their kids. The kids loved running through the different tunnels being chased by Matt who was at an obvious disadvantage because the tunnels are children’s size! It was so fun watching Royce learn how to venture new obstacles such as the rope walk or even different slides.
Along with the main play structures there are a couple of large areas more specifically designed for younger kids. Royce wasn’t interested at all but Jeannie went back to these areas often.
There were parts that I was definitely worried about whether or not they were to young to do it, but because everything is really open it was easy to keep an eye on them even from below. There are so many slides! Most of them are completely different from one another. I was having them avoid some of the “scarier” looking slides but the next day when we went again with Matt they were going those “scary” slides like there was nothing to it!
Everything you really need is located here, or nearby! The drive is about 20 minutes away from where we live in Iwakuni which makes it very convenient for morning outings!. It’s located behind YouMe town which has a McDonalds, Mister Donut and a Baskin Robbins! There are several benches with coverings for shade which goes really with the breeze that is coming off of the ocean! There are also porta-potties, which is nice but since this is a brand new park and it looks like they will be continuing to make improvements, I’m hopeful that the bathroom situation will turn into a more permanent one!
Many of the larger parks in Japan couple as a park for children and outdoor gym for adults. Here they have several fields nearby but right in the park they have exercise equipment for adults! This is really a great place to get fit, either you are chasing your kids up obstacles and around a large jungle gym or you are able to watch the kids while using their exercise equipment!
PRO TIP: This park tends to get crowded with long lines for some of the slides. The best time to go is during the week when they first open at 9 am!
This park tends to get pretty busy! The first time Matt took the kids was on a Saturday mid morning and the kids had to wait in line for most of the slides. However when I went with them at 9 a.m. when they opened on a Thursday morning there was only one other kid there.
The only other downside for this park I would say is that there are no vending machines to get snacks or drinks. But like I mentioned before YouMe town is close by as well as a Family Mart.
